Understanding what’s happening can be an important part of moving forward

Sometimes the reason for seeking psychological support is reasonably clear. At other times, mood, anxiety, attention, personality, coping, relationships, health, pain and pressures at work or home interact in ways that are harder to untangle.

Timothy combines careful psychological assessment with practical, evidence-based therapy. The aim is to develop a useful understanding of what is contributing to the problem, what may be maintaining it, and where change is likely to make a meaningful difference.

Private, Medicare, TAC, workers’ compensation and eligible employer-funded pathways are available, depending on your circumstances.

Anxiety & mood

Anxiety, persistent worry, panic, depression, low mood and difficulties managing emotions

ADHD & attention

Attention, organisation, and executive-function difficulties, including the interaction between ADHD and other psychological concerns.

Chronic pain & health

Adjusting to pain, illness, health changes and persistent symptoms, and their effects on daily life.

Trauma & adjustment

Psychological responses to difficult events, injury, significant change or periods of sustained stress.

Work stress & psychological injury

Burnout, workplace stress, psychological injury and difficulties returning to sustainable work.

Complex or longstanding difficulties

When several problems are interacting, previous treatment has not helped enough, or a clearer psychological formulation may be useful.

TIMOTHY’S APPROACH

Thoughtful assessment. Practical treatment.

Psychological therapy works best when it starts with a good understanding of the person rather than simply applying a technique to a diagnosis.

Timothy works collaboratively to understand the factors contributing to a difficulty and what may be keeping it going. Treatment can then focus on changes that are meaningful and useful in everyday life, including emotional wellbeing, relationships, health, work and participation.

His work draws on established psychological approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and psychotherapy.
