ADHD Assessment & Support

Perhaps you've always felt that life requires more effort than it seems to for other people.

You may find yourself struggling with organisation, concentration, procrastination, forgetfulness, time management, restlessness, or simply keeping on top of things. You might be successful in many areas of life, yet feel exhausted by the constant effort required to stay organised and focused.

For some people, these experiences are related to Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

At Framework Psychology, we provide comprehensive ADHD assessment and psychological support for adults and older teens aged 15+.

Our approach is evidence-based, neurodiversity-supportive, and focused on clear understanding of strengths, challenges and practical options for moving forward.

Whether exploring ADHD for yourself, or supporting a teenager or young adult to seek assessment and treatment, we are here to help.

Understanding ADHD. Understanding yourself.

Why do people seek an ADHD assessment?

People seek assessment for many different reasons.

You may be wondering whether ADHD could help explain:

  • Difficulties with attention, focus, planning or organisation

  • Constant procrastination, despite good intentions

  • Forgetfulness or losing track of tasks

  • Feeling overwhelmed by everyday demands

  • Restlessness, or difficulty switching off

  • Problems managing time, routine, or responsibilities

  • Emotional reactivity, frustration, or burnout

  • Repeated struggles at work, university, school, or in relationships

  • A recent diagnosis in a family member that feels surprisingly familiar

People seek assessment because something is not working, and they want a better understanding of why.

Seeking clarity,
not just a diagnosis

ADHD is one possible explanation for difficulties with attention, organisation, motivation, memory, emotional regulation, and everyday functioning.

But it is not the only one.

Similar difficulties can occur alongside – or sometimes be better explained by – anxiety, depression, chronic stress or burnout, trauma, sleep difficulties, autism, learning difficulties, physical or medical factors, or other life circumstances.

A quality assessment takes time to understand the whole person.

Our aim is not simply to answer the question, "Do I have ADHD?"

We will consider what is happening, how long it has been happening, how it affects your life, what else might be contributing, and what would be most useful from here.  Whether or not ADHD is the diagnosed explanation, our goal is to provide meaningful answers and practical recommendations.

What does ADHD assessment involve?

ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition, meaning symptoms typically begin during childhood, even if they are not recognised until much later in life.

Assessment therefore involves understanding both your current experiences and your developmental history.

Framework Psychology's ADHD assessments are typically completed across several appointments to allow for a thorough and individualised evaluation.

We take the time to understand your current concerns, daily functioning, mental health history, educational experiences, work history, relationships and life circumstances.

Standardised ADHD Measures

Evidence-based questionnaires and rating scales help us understand attentional functioning, executive functioning, behaviour patterns and the impact of symptoms across different areas of life.

Developmental and Childhood History

We explore whether ADHD-related patterns have been present over time, including during childhood, adolescence and adulthood.

03

Collateral Information

Where appropriate and available, information from parents, partners, family members, school reports or previous assessments can help build a clearer picture.

Feedback & Recommendations

At the conclusion of the assessment, we discuss the findings, answer your questions, and provide recommendations tailored to your unique circumstances.

ADHD assessments usually occur across several standard appointments, rather than a single session.  The process is tailored to the individual.

A confirmed diagnosis – or, potentially confirmation of alternative explanations for your experience or symptoms – might commonly take around four sessions.  A comprehensive clinical interview alone might take between two-to-three hours.

This can vary depending on:

  1. the complexity of your history

  2. other conditions needing to be considered

  3. the availability of childhood or other collateral information

  4. the availability of any previous assessments or reports

  5. the questions you are seeking to answer

We ensure you receive a full explanation of assessment findings and the factors that appear most relevant to your difficulties.
